2011 – Fishing/Shooting Campout

Details have been finalized for our September campout.  First of all, the date is 9/23-9/25, which is one week later than originally planned for our September campout.  Second, this campout will be at Camp Friedlander.  Please check your schedule and update the sign-up sheet as needed.

This campout will primarily be a fishing campout, as requested by a majority of the boys at the last couple PLC meetings.  We have booked the Stuart Family campsite, which is right on the lake.  As an added bonus, Camp Friedlander will be offering an Open Shoot at the shooting range from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday 9/24 (as indicated in the previous emails from Mr. Weiss).  There is a $25 fee associated with the open shoot, and it is completely voluntary.  Sign-up forms will be available at the next few meetings if you want to participate in the open shoot.

This campout will be perfect for any scout that needs to finish their fishing merit badge or their rifle or shotgun merit badge.  However, all scouts are encouraged to sign-up for this campout, and any scout can participate in the open shoot.  Just so no one gets their hopes up, it will not be possible to complete the full rifle or shotgun merit badge at the open shoot.  It is ideal for completing the open shooting portion of the merit badge if you already started it.  It is also possible to get started on that portion of these merit badges, but they will have to be completed at a later date.

Please make sure you sign-up for this campout if you want to go, and also fill out a separate open shoot form if you want to participate in the open shoot on Saturday.  I don’t know if the open shoot has a limited number of spots available, so I would recommend filling out the form sooner rather than later, just to make sure you don’t miss out.

Please see me or Mr. Weiss at the upcoming meetings if you have any questions.

Yours In Scouting,

Tom Moore
