Remember that the troop is able to help with the cost of summer camp. If needed, talk to Tom Moore, Steve Barnholtz, or Dave Hartup. This information is kept confidential. Also, this is a great time to schedule a physical for camp. Your son must have a physician signed physical to attend summer camp.

Merit Badge Registration Process

McKee 2012 Merit Badge Schedule
Friedlander 2012 Merit Badge Schedule

I just wanted to urge everyone to read the instructions carefully for summer camp merit badge selections for this year.  We are doing things differently than we have done in the past.  We are asking for all merit badge selections to be submitted electronically via email, to Mrs. Moore at Deborah.Moore@troop947.org rather than printing the form and turning in a hard copy.

So, there are three important steps to signing up for summer camp this year:

  1. Your son signs his name on the signup sheet for one of the summer camps
  2. You pay the money for summer camp to Mr. Hartup on or before the due dates
  3. You email your son’s merit badge selections to Mrs. Moore (just enter their choices in the empty boxes at the bottom of the merit badge schedule for the summer camp that they are attending)

Please let us know if you have any trouble with the Excel files for merit badges.  After the registration process is complete, there will be another requirement of medical forms, but that will be communicated later.

Contact Debbie Moore with questions.

Annual Swim Test Required

Anyone (either youth or adult) attending summer camp who plans to go in the water must complete the annual BSA swim test BEFORE  leaving for camp.  Swimming, boating, sailing, canoeing and all other water based activities require the test.

Taking the annual swim test after you arrive at camp involves a very long wait at the waterfront, and all swim test must be complete before the troop can check-in and the scouts can begin to unload their gear.   The troop offers several oppertunities to complete the test.  Please check at the meetings for dates and times or contact  Debbie Moore  for more information.

Adult Volunteers:

- The same BSA medical form is required for you and must be signed by a physician if attending summer camp.

- Youth Protection training is required. You can complete this online. You do not have to be a registered volunteer. This is required if attending camp-outs with the troop. It will require approx. 30 minutes of your time. Print-out the completion form and turn-in to the troop.
